The staff at La Puerta Abierta gathered together during the vacation week for a hike, kayaking, and lunch in celebration of Teacher’s Day. This day was dedicated to our hard working and passionate teachers: a moment to come together outside of class in a fun environment and to continue to cultivate our team work.
We rode a boat across the lake to the small village of Tzununa where we began our hike. When we arrived we formed a circle to talk about what we would like to learn from the day and to acknowledge the progress we have made throughout the year at our center.
The hike was filled with stunning views of Lake Atitlan as we climbed up and down the trail.
Mid-way through the hike we stopped in a green, shaded area for a quick snack.
After the invigorating hike, the teachers took the kayaks out! What better way to build teamwork than to learn to row together in a fluid and complimentary way!
After the kayaks we took a dip in the deep blue lake.
At the end of the day, we gathered together as one team to take a picture to capture our wonderful day together. Thank you to all of our talented teachers at La Puerta Abierta and to all the committed teachers around the world who work hard every day to make a positive difference in the lives of children.
